The government provides five official routes for climbing Mount Rinjani, including Sembalun, Senaru, Torean, Tete Batu, and Aik Berik, but the ones that climbers are most interested in are the Sembalun, Senaru, and Torean routes. You can choose one of the three paths above if you want to explore the beauty of Mount Rinjani such as the Senaru and Sembalun Crater Circles, Rinjani Peak, Segara Anak Lake and Hot Springs.
Of the 3 paths above, most climbers choose a relatively safe and harmless path such as the Senaru and Sembalun paths. The torean path is usually used for the path when descending from Mount Rinjani, why is that? This is because the torean route is still relatively dangerous so it is not recommended for novice climbers.

From the Plawangan Sembalun crater, climb again to the top of Mount Rinjani 3726 meters, it takes 3-4 hours
From the Plawangan Sembalun crater down to the village of Sembalun Lawang it takes 6 hours
